TECHFARM Hub Empowers Entrepreneurs and Students through Digital Trading & Freelance Training

In a rapidly digitizing world, equipping individuals with digital skills is more important than ever. Recognizing this, TECHFARM Hub successfully hosted the Digital Trading & Freelance Training for MSMEs, an initiative designed to empower entrepreneurs, students, and freelancers with essential skills to thrive in the digital economy.

This impactful program, held in Koforidua Technical University (KTU) and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) in the Eastern Region, trained over 180 participants, with a focus on inclusivity, entrepreneurship, and practical application.

Bringing Digital Opportunities to Life

The training sessions provided participants with hands-on experience in:

  • Graphic Design with Canva: Participants learned to create professional designs for branding and promotional purposes.
  • Building Online Portfolios: Training on platforms like JournoPortfolio equipped attendees to showcase their work professionally.
  • WhatsApp Business for Freelancers: Focused on using WhatsApp for client engagement and business growth.
  • Soft Skills Development: Enhancing communication and interpersonal skills essential for freelancing.

The program also explored the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for freelancers, helping participants identify opportunities in Africa’s interconnected trade ecosystem.

Collaborative and Inclusive Approach

Participants ranged from budding entrepreneurs to students eager to enter the freelance world. Key highlights of the program included:

  • Interactive Sessions: Group activities, live demonstrations, and real-time feedback created a dynamic learning environment.
  • Guest Speakers: Industry leaders and experts, including representatives from MTN Ghana, shared insights on online payment security, startup ecosystems, and leveraging digital tools.

The initiative emphasized inclusivity, with women and youth representing a significant portion of participants.

Impact and Future Growth

The training left participants with new skills, improved confidence, and actionable plans to enhance their businesses. Feedback revealed a significant shift in how attendees approached their freelance careers, with some already securing gigs as a direct result of the program.

TECHFARM Hub plans to build on this success by:

  • Expanding the program to other regions.
